The German giants were shocked by a 1-0 defeat at Stadio Olimpico in the first-leg clash in February.

Here’s what you need to know:

What: UEFA Champions League

Who: Bayern Munich vs. Lazio

When: Tuesday, March 5, 2024 (3/5/24)

Time: 3 p.m. ET

Where: Allianz Arena, München, Germany

TV: Univision, TUDN USA, TNT Sports 1

Having picked up a red card in Rome, Dayot Upamecano is suspended for the second leg game, while Matthijs de Ligt is back from a domestic ban.

All of Sacha Boey, Kingsley Coman, Noussair Mazraoui and Bouna Sarr continue to remain sidelined through injuries; whereas Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry emerge as doubts.

Both Mathys Tel and Jamal Musiala could be handed starts in support of Harry Kane against Lazio.

Ciro Immobile should replace Taty Castellanos in attack after the latter started in Friday's 1-0 Serie loss against AC Milan.

Le Aquile boss Maurizio Sarri will not be able to call upon the services of Nicolo Rovella and Patric, while Mattia Zaccagni was back in action the last time out. Luis Alberto will continue as the creator-in-chief in the middle.

Bayern Munich tonight must overturn a first-leg deficit against Lazio to reach the Champions League quarter-finals and avoid a likely trophyless season.

Last month's first clash hinged on Dayot Upamecano giving away a penalty, and his subsequent red card, before Lazio captain Ciro Immobile slotted home from the spot to give the Italian’s a narrow 1-0 first-leg victory.

Days later, it was confirmed that Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season and Bayern have picked up four points from a possible nine in the league since to throw their Bundesliga title hopes into disarray.

Matthijs de Ligt should come in for the suspended Dayot Upamecano, while Jamal Musiala and Mathys Tel could come in to support Harry Kane after a goal each in the draw at Freiburg.

Lazio will recall captain Ciro Immobile and should be supported by Mattia Zaccagni.

Bayern have had their problems of late but have more than enough about them to overturn the one-goal deficit and reach the quarter-finals. Harry Kane is looking for his first ever Champions League goal in a home knockout game, and you wouldn’t bet against him breaking his duck.

The Champions League is back! After a short break, the next leg of the Round of 16 is ready to kick off on Tuesday. Bayern Munich will face off against Lazio in the second leg at 3:00 p.m. ET on March 5th at Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich's last four Champions League matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Bayern Munich has some ground to make up against Lazio considering the result of their first leg back in February. Bayern Munich fell just short of Lazio by a score of 1-0. The defeat was Bayern Munich's first in this tournament so far.

Bayern Munich's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-1-1. As for Lazio, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1-2.

One of these teams will be headed to the Quarter-finals, while the other will be headed home in defeat. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.

Thomas Tuchel will have to deal with the absence of Dayot Upamecano, who is suspended after receiving a red card in the first leg in Rome. Eric Dier will replace him, while Alphonso Davies will play on the left and Leroy Sane will play alongside Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane.

Former Verona winger Mattia Zaccagni will start after he recovered from his injury and will play alongside Felipe Anderson and the club's captain Ciro Immobile. With Rovella still injured, Luis Alberto and Danilo Cataldi will play as central midfielders.

The Eagles will likely have to quell an onslaught from the home side's attack, with history very much on the side of the German team coming into this decisive fixture. Bayern have won their last six UEFA competition matches at home against Italian clubs and have never lost both legs of a Champions League round of 16 tie.

Ten points off the pace in the Bundesliga and out of the German Cup, this is Bayern’s final chance to pick up a major trophy this term - and give Harry Kane the first of his career.

Lazio are not faring much better themselves; having impressed in Serie A last season they are only ninth this year and have lost three of the last four in league terms, though there is of course far less expectancy on them than Bayern to triumph domestically.

Ciro Immobile’s penalty two weeks ago splits the side ahead of the first leg and since then, manager Thomas Tuchel and the Bavarian club have already announced they will part ways at the end of the season.
